Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes New Sidewalk Construction Project in
Conrad

Conrad The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to
construct new sidewalks and other improvements in Conrad. The project
is along the south side of 2nd Avenue SW from South Maryland Street
to South Michigan Street and at the intersection of Main Street and
3rd Avenue SW.

Proposed work includes approximately 1,100 feet of
new sidewalk, upgrading curb ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) standards, and radar speed signs along 2nd Avenue SW near
Meadowlark Elementary and Utterback Middle Schools. The proposed
project also includes upgrading curb ramps to ADA standards and a
flashing crosswalk sign at the intersection of Main Street and 3rd
Avenue SW. The purpose of the project is to construct sidewalks and
other improvements to safely route pedestrians between Conrad High
School, Utterback Middle School, Meadowlark Elementary School, and
Main Street.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction
in 2018, depending on completion of all project development
activities and availability of funding.
No new right-of-way or
utility relocations are anticipated.

The project is funded with
Federal Highway Administration Transportation Alternatives funds and
a combination of State of Montana and City of Conrad local matching
funds.
