Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Safety Improvement Project on U.S. Highway
93 in Kalispell

Kalispell The Montana Department of Transportation
(MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal
to install safety improvements on U.S. Highway 93 (U.S. 93) in
Kalispell. The proposed project is located on U.S. 93 at the
intersection with Treeline Road in Kalispell, beginning at reference
marker 115.3 and extending to reference marker 115.7.

The proposed
project has been nominated to provide intersection and signal
upgrades at Treeline Road and U.S. 93 in Kalispell. The proposed
improvements on Treeline Road include eliminating the raised medians
to align the exclusive left turn lanes across the intersection and
providing exclusive through and right turn lanes. The project will
also include upgraded signal equipment and pedestrian facilities
including pedestrian ramps, push buttons and pedestrian signals where
required to meet current and Americans with Disabilities Act
standards. The purpose of the project is to improve intersection
operations for the traveling public.

The project is tentatively
scheduled for construction in the summer of 2019, depending on
completion of all project development activities and availability of
funding. Temporary right-of-way agreements may be needed. Utility
relocations may be necessary.
