.Powder River County officials report ice jams along the Powder 

River. One is about 7 miles south of Broadus and is causing water to 

back up and flood nearby locations. Another is just northeast of 

Broadus causing minor flooding in the Broadus vicinity.

...FLOOD WARNING FOR AN ICE JAM REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM MDT 

THURSDAY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by ice jamming continues.



* WHERE...A portion of southeast Montana, including the following 

  county, Powder River.



* WHEN...Until 230 PM MDT Thursday.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of areas along and near the Powder River as 

  water backs up behind ice jams. Depending on ice behavior, any 

  release of an ice jam could also result in sudden rises of water 

  downstream, leading to a rapid flooding situation.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1220 PM MDT, Powder River County officials report flooding

    continues in the warned area.

  - People downstream from the warned area along the Powder River

    in northeast Powder River County should also remain alert and

    be prepared for ice jamming and possible flooding.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    The Broadus vicinity, and areas up to 10 miles south of

    Broadus along the Powder River.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Do not drive on or attempt to cross flooded roads, find an alternate 

route. Roads and driveways may be damaged or washed out in places.



Stay away or be swept away. River banks can become unstable and 

unsafe.



Move livestock and farm equipment to safe locations.
