Striping Machine Operator/Driver

Performs a variety of work as a laborer, equipment operator, and truck driver. During striping activities performs work as a striper driver, striper operator, nurse truck driver, or traffic controller and assists with minor repairs of all striping equipment. Is responsible for loading the paint striper and nurse truck, cleans and services mounted paint gun and spray unit; drives paint striping machine while applying center and shoulder lines to streets and highways or operates mounted paint gun on striping machine; adjusts and regulates automatic trigger device for length of line and skip line; activates mounted spray gun apparatus for painting solid "no passing" and other lines or retraces existing lines; observes machine operation for proper line width, thickness, retro-reflectivity, and bead application rates; notifies driver when problems occur and adjusts, cleans, or resets equipment to ensure proper application. Responsible for the overall function of the machine including preoperational check, scheduled servicing, and adding fluids. Performs related work and other maintenance activities as required. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Striping Foreman position on an as needed basis and performs all related work with this position. Due to seasonal considerations, striping operations consist of 35%-40% of the job duties.
