Bench Boulevard - Hilltop to Pemberton
For the week of May 23, crews will be working from approximately 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Knife River recommends planning for brief delays, side street closures, short-term driveway impacts, and detours for local residents.
For the week of May 23, there will be significant work and congestion from Hilltop Road to Heights Lane as crews continue installing storm drain facilities. This will last for several weeks. Access for residents of Birch Lane, Dreamers Loop and Heights Lane will be maintained in this zone. Residents of Shawnee Dr. will have access via Main Street. Through traffic is advised to use Main Street, Hilltop Road, Logan Lane, Wicks Lane or Hawthorne Lane in order to avoid traffic congestion and delays. Gainan’s will be available at Hilltop Rd and Dietz Auto can be accessed from the north.
Knife River will also be finishing gravel placement and continuing work on new curb and sidewalks and driveways from Barrett to Pemberton. This stretch should be paved during the week of May 30. Pemberton Lane is still closed at Bench, and Heights Vet Clinic as well as private residences can be accessed from the South end of the Pemberton/Barrett closure.
Having finished work on the north half of Bench, Centurylink and Rocky Mountain Contractors will be completing the relocation of phone lines and the removal of the old phone poles from Wicks Lane to Hilltop by the end of the month.
Knife River is committed to limiting delays and detours whenever possible. We appreciate the partnership of the Heights community in adhering to all signage and flaggers while we work to create a safer roadway and neighborhood. Please be aware that fines do double in work zones.
While crews work in these north and south areas, residents can anticipate the following:
- Residents of looped side streets Dreamers Loop, Heights Lane, Kale Drive, Betsy Drive and Mossman Drive will always have one entry to Bench available but construction will alternate which entry is open. Drivers may experience brief delays when exiting onto Bench.
- Caroline Street will be closed at Bench Boulevard – residents are advised to use Hawthorne Lane.
