Public meetings are a vital part of the project development process at MDT. Most projects consist of one informational public meeting to inform the public what is going on, to get their input, and to answer questions.
An informational public meeting for this project was held at the Independent Grade School on Monday, May 14, 2007. At this meeting, the project design team presented the current plan to improve each of the four intersections that make up this project. These plans are preliminary, but present a good idea of what MDT plans on doing to make these intersections safer and more "user friendly". Meeting attendees were asked to comment on the project - let the design team know what they thought of the project and what their concerns are. The design team also answered questions concerning project specifics. Some of the topics discussed were:
- Turn lanes
- How MDT plans on handling the sight distance issues at the intersection of Old Hwy 312 and Country Garden Drive
- How the project is funded
- School bus operations
- Irrigation concerns
- Accesses (private and local business) to the project
- The project schedule
