Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Bridge Rehabilitation Project on
Interstate 90 Access Road Near Garrison

Garrison The Montana
Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public
and seek comments on a proposal to rehabilitate the bridge over the
BNSF railroad on the Interstate 90 access road (N-88) 0.2 miles east
of Garrison in Powell County. The project begins at the intersection
of U.S. Highway 12 and N-88 at reference post 0.5 and extends south
for 0.2 miles, ending south of the railroad bridge at reference post
0.7.

Proposed work includes bridge deck replacement, rehabilitation
of bridge elements, milling the surface of the existing roadway,
applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip
seal), upgraded pavement marking and guardrail. The purpose of the
project is to extend the life of the existing bridge.

The bridge
work will necessitate closure of the roadway during construction. A
detour will be established to route traffic around the construction
zone.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2018,
depending on completion of all project development activities and
availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations
will be needed.
