Montana Department of
Transportation Proposes Resurfacing Project for Highway 35 North and
South of Creston

CRESTON The Montana Department of Transportation
(MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal
to resurface about 7.8 miles of Highway 35 north and south of Creston
in Flathead County. The project begins about 1.1 miles southeast of
Creston at reference post 40.3 and extends northwesterly for 7.8
miles, ending approximately 1.4 miles east of the Kalispell urban
limits at reference post 48.1.

Proposed work includes crack sealing,
plant mix surfacing overlay, seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded
pavement markings, installing new shoulder and centerline rumble
strips and a bridge deck crack seal. In addition, signing,
delineation, sidewalk and guardrail upgrades will be included. The
purpose of the project is to enhance the safety of the traveling
public and take a cost-effective action to prolong and preserve the
existing pavement.

The project is tentatively scheduled for
construction in 2019, depending on completion of all project
development activities and availability of funding. No new
right-of-way or utility relocations are anticipated.
