Transportation Proposes Mill and Overlay Project between Centerville
and Eden on Secondary Highway 227 (Stockett Road)

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the
public and seek comments on a proposal to mill, overlay, and seal and
cover about 4.8 miles of Secondary Highway 227 (Stockett Road)
southeast of Great Falls in Cascade County. The project begins at the
intersection with Giffen Road at reference post 8.5 and extends south
for 4.8 miles, ending at the Giffen Cutoff Road at reference post

Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying
a new overlay, finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal) and
upgraded pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to address
the ruts and ride and prolong the life of the roadway.

The project
is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2018, depending on
completion of all project development activities and availability of
funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
