Project Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner Sletten Construction Company will improve three bridges in the Butte area and one in Warm Springs. This work is part of MDT’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and dependable infrastructure across Montana.
- The Centennial Avenue bridge crosses over the railroad near the intersection with South Excelsior Avenue. Work will involve a full bridge reconstruction.
- The Burlington Street bridge spans over Interstate 90 (I-90). Work includes a new bridge deck and structural improvements.
- The Shields Avenue bridge lies between East Second Street and Texas Avenue and will undergo concrete repairs.
- The I-90 frontage road in Warm Springs provides public fishing access on the east side of I-90.
The following construction schedule and detours are dependent on weather and other unforeseen factors.
- Centennial Avenue bridge
The full closure and detour begin the week of April 13 with completion expected in July. - Burlington Street bridge
Motorists on I-90 can expect lane shifts and reduced speeds south of the Interstate 15 (I-15) interchange from May to October. The Burlington Street bridge over I-90 will be closed and a detour will be in place through construction. - Shields Avenue bridge
The full closure and detour begin early June. Crews expect to complete work in late June. - I-90 frontage road bridge
Closure begins early June, and work is expected to be completed in one week.
