Montana's Estimated Monthly Vehicle Miles of Travel (MVMT)
This report shows Montana's urban, rural and statewide estimated monthly vehicle miles of travel. Montana's estimated MVMT is generated by FHWA using traffic and roadway data from the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) and monthly traffic data supplied by TDCA. The monthly traffic data is collected from the continuous count station (CCS) sites located on public roadways across the state.
Nationwide Estimated Monthly Vehicle Miles of Travel (MVMT)
Traffic Volume Trends is a monthly report based on hourly traffic count data reported by the States. These data are collected at approximately 4,000 CCS locations nationwide and are used to estimate the percent change in traffic for the current month compared with the same month in the previous year. Estimates are re-adjusted annually to match the vehicle miles of travel from the Highway Performance Monitoring System and are continually updated with additional data.
Annual Traffic By Sections (TBS) Reports
Traffic By Sections – On System routes only - The Traffic By Sections (TBS) report displays three years of traffic data using MDT's Departmental Route naming protocol (I-90, N-1, P-9, etc.). Referencing and description information, the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) and the Daily Vehicle Miles of Travel (DVMT) for all vehicles (Types 1-13) is reported for each roadway segment. Commercial truck information is provided where available.

Annual Continuous Traffic Counter Reports
The annual Continuous Traffic Counter report provides summary traffic data collected from MDT's continuous count stations (ATR and WIM sites). The report includes average weekday traffic and average day of week traffic by month, 10th, 20th and 30th (DHV), 50th and 100th highest hours and, where available, vehicle mix percentages (passenger vehicle and small and large truck). The report contains the historical traffic data available for each permanent count site.

The Monthly Calendar provides traffic volumes by day, by direction and by roadway from MDT's continuous count stations.
These reports provide a general overview of the monthly traffic trends at each of Montana's continuous count stations, but the trends are not necessarily representative of the statewide trend.
