Plan Ahead for Safe Fun with a Sober Ride this Halloween

October 24, 2022

Witches and Zombies aren't the only chilling sights lurking on our roads on Halloween. Impaired drivers are a far scarier reality, putting themselves and others at risk during this holiday. Sadly, their actions often have fatal outcomes. During Halloween, impaired or unsafe drivers pose an especially dangerous threat to pedestrians, as more people (particularly children) are out on the hunt for candy.

Enjoy this spooky holiday with a plan, and - follow these tips to keep you and others safe:

  • Make a plan in advance and designate a sober driver or use a ride service to get home. It's never safe to drink and drive, so don't be afraid to ask a sober friend or family member for help!
  • Have a friend who is about to drink and drive? Take the keys away and arrange to get them home safely.
  • If you suspect you see a drunk driver on the road, call 911 to report them.

Just like lasting memories of Halloween fun, the consequences of driving impaired can stay with you long after the festivities are over. Don't end your night with a nightmare - stay safe, plan ahead and only drive sober. For more information, visit the Vision Zero impaired driving page.
