Ring in the New Year Safely with a Sober Ride

December 29, 2023

Do your New Year's resolutions include getting a DUI? Probably not, but if you choose to drink and drive, your New Year's Eve will cost much more than a night of festivities. As you count down the end of 2023 and raise your glass to 2024, make sure the party plans include a safe ride home for everyone. Increased enforcement will be present for the holiday weekend, and even a first DUI citation can come at a hefty price.

If you are hosting a celebration, serve alcohol responsibly and make sure your guests have safe, sober transportation home or a place to stay for the evening. As a party guest, it's also your responsibility to plan ahead if you'll be drinking. Whether it's a designated driver, using a ride service or staying with a friend for the night, be safe and remind your friends and family to do the same. If you see or suspect drunk driving on the road, call 911.

As Montanans, we must continue to work together towards the goal of Vision Zero - zero deaths and zero serious injuries on our roads. Commit to making the right choice for you and your loved ones, and only drive sober.
