Project Overview

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Riverside Contracting Inc. have completed construction on the Forsyth - East & West project. Thank you for your support, patience, and collaboration while we made significant improvements to Front Street and Forsyth's stormwater drainage system.

MDT partnered with Riverside Contracting Inc. to improve Front Street, between US 12 and 18th Avenue. The purpose of the Forsyth - East & West project was to rehabilitate the existing roadway, improve stormwater drainage, and enhance Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access.

Project improvements included:

• Resurfacing Front Street using a mill and overlay technique to provide a smoother driving surface while reducing maintenance costs.
• Constructing new curb and gutter on the south side of Front Street.
• Installing a new stormwater system to more efficiently drain water toward the Yellowstone River, on the northeast end of Forsyth.
• Upgrading ADA curb ramps, deteriorated sidewalk, signage, and pavement markings.
• Widening the roadway to include four-foot shoulders on the west end of the project area, leading up to the Front Street and US 12 intersection.
