Project Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), in collaboration with Morrison-Maierle (MMI), announces the start of a sidewalk improvement project in Hot Springs. With construction scheduled to begin in 2027, the project will upgrade pedestrian infrastructure and enhance safety for all users, with a focus on providing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant connections to the downtown area.
Hot Springs has seen an increase in walking traffic due to local commuting patterns. MDT has selected this location for sidewalk enhancements to ensure that deteriorating routes are replaced with more accessible pathways for residents and visitors alike.
Project Timeline
The project’s design will be finalized in 2026, and construction is expected to begin in spring 2027. A public open house is scheduled for May 12, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hot Springs Fire House (109 1/2 Main Street, Hot Springs). Attendees are encouraged to drop by anytime during open house hours to learn more about the project and provide feedback.
