November 5, 2021

  • Inclement weather has disrupted operations for the last several weeks; crews are continuing Epoxy Striping operations on the following routes until completion, weather permitting:
    • US 93 from just North of Fortine to the Canadian border
    • MT 37 from Rexford to the junction with US 93
    • MT 28 from just south of Lonepine to Elmo

October 11, 2021

  • This week, Epoxy Striping operations will be on the following routes:
    • S 424 from the intersection of N Meridian Rd and Three Mile Drive to the intersection of Farm to Market Road and Lodgepole Road
    • Lake Mary Ronan Road from Dayton to just west of Proctor
    • MT 28 from three miles south of Lonepine to Elmo
  • Operations are all mobile. Traffic can expect to wait no longer than 15 minutes. Passing is highly discouraged because there is equipment stretched over a long distance with reduced visibility. The operation pulls over to let traffic go past every 15 minutes.

October 4, 2021

  • This week, Epoxy Striping operations will be on the following routes in Flathead Countty: US 2 from just past Red Eagle to Nimrod, Whitefish Stage Rd from W Reserve Dr to MT 40, S 424 from the jct of N Meridian Rd and 3 Mi Dr to the jct of Farm to Market Rd and Lodgepole Rd.

September 27, 2021

  • This week, Epoxy Striping operations will be on the following routes:
    • US 2 from just past Red Eagle to Nimrod in Flathead County
    • US 93 from Round Prairie working north in Flathead County
  • Operations are all mobile. Traffic can expect to wait no longer than 15 minutes. Passing is highly discouraged because there is equipment stretched over a long distance with reduced visibility. The operation pulls over to let traffic go past every 15 minutes.

September 13, 2021

  • This week, Epoxy Striping operations will be on the following routes:
    • US 2 from Troy to McGregor Lake (two crews will be working in various locations along this route).
  • Operations are all mobile. Traffic can expect to wait no longer than 15 minutes. Passing is highly discouraged because there is equipment stretched over a long distance with reduced visibility. The operation pulls over to let traffic go past every 15 minutes.

August 31, 2021

  • This week, Fog Sealing and Striping operations will be on the following routes:
    • US 2 from Kalispell to Troy
    • MT 37 near Libby
    • S 284
    • S 260
    • MT 56
  • Crews will be off the roads by 3 pm this Friday, and work won't resume until after the Holiday. MDT hopes you have a great Labor Day!
  • Operations are all mobile. Traffic can expect to wait no longer than 15 minutes. Passing is highly discouraged because there is equipment stretched over a long distance with reduced visibility. The operation pulls over to let traffic go past every 15 minutes.

August 24, 2021

  • This week, Fog Sealing and Striping operations will be on the following routes:
    • S 354 from Polson to the intersection with Round Butte Road
    • US 93 from Polson to West Shore State Park
    • HW 28 from just before Lonepine to past Niarada
  • Stripe Grooving and Epoxy Striping will be on the following routes:
    • MT 37 from Libby to the dam past Jennings
    • US 93 from the SE side of Lower Stillwater Lake to the bridge over Dog Creek, from Stryker to the SE side of Dickey Lake, and from the NW side of Dickey Lake to Fortine (all south of Eureka)
  • Operations are all mobile. Traffic can expect to wait no longer than 15 minutes. Passing is highly discouraged because there is equipment stretched over a long distance with reduced visibility. The operation pulls over to let traffic go past every 15 minutes.

August 10, 2021

  • This week, expect crews to be installing rumble strips on:
    • • US 93 from the east end of Dickey Lake to Tobacco (Mile Markers 161 to 174)
    • • US 2 from 17 miles south of Pioneer Junction to six miles before Happys Inn (Mile Markers 54 to 66)
  • Epoxy (roadway paint) operations will be on the following routes:
    • • Round Butte Road
    • • MT 28 from three miles south of Lonepine to Elmo
    • • US 2 from the east end of McGregor Lake to just past Marion
  • The traveling public should expect pilot cars and single-lane closures. In addition, expect 12-foot width restrictions until operations are complete.

July 26, 2021

  • Due to equipment failure, rumble strip and striping schedules for this week remain unchanged, except for the addition of one route.
  • This week, expect crews to be installing rumble strips on:
    • US 93 from Round Prairie to Dickey Lake
    • S 424 from the intersection of N Meridian Rd and Three Mile Drive to the intersection of Farm to Market Road and Lodgepole Road
    • MT 35 from the intersection with US 93 to just before Creston
    • MT 37 from Rexford to the Intersection with US 93

July 6, 2021

  • The rumble strip and centerline repair contractors are enjoying some well-deserved time off this week. Most operations are paused, but please be aware of crews completing epoxy striping (painting the lines on the road) this week on US 2 from just past Marion to just past Kila.
  • The traveling public should expect reduced speeds.

June 25, 2021

  • This week, expect crews to be installing rumble strips on:
    • • US 2 from just past Libby for 13 miles
    • • US 2 from just south of Troy to just west of Libby.
    • • MT 37 east of Libby to west of Jennings
    • • Farm to Market Road from the intersection with Honeysuckle Lane to the intersection with Airport Way
  • This week, crews will be working on centerline repair and will mill and pave in 5-mile sections, weather permitting. Repairing the centerline will allow for a successful and long-lasting installation of centerline rumble strips and reduce the potential for cracking and potholing.
  • Expect crews to be milling and paving on:
    • • MT 35 (E Shore Rte) from Hawthorne Lane to Bear Dance South Loop and from Woods Bay to the intersection with Rand Rd in Lake and Flathead Counties.
    • • S 424 from mile marker 13 to mile marker 15 (most of Lodgepole Rd near Whitefish) in Flathead County.
    • • US 93 N between Lower Stillwater Lake and the intersection with 150 Mile Rd, and between Stryker and Dickey Lake in Lincoln and Flathead Counties.
  • Due to the 4th of July, all operations will cease by 3 pm on Friday, July 2nd, and will not resume until the morning of July 6th. MDT hopes you have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!
  • The traveling public should expect pilot cars and single-lane closures. In addition, expect 12-foot width restrictions until operations are complete.

June 15, 2021

  • On Tuesday, crews return to US 200 from Clearwater to the bridge over Ward Creek (mile markers 32 to 53) in Powell County to complete joint bonding. Crews will also be working on joint bonding on US 93 N from just before Post Creek to just past Kicking Horse (mile markers 37 to 44) in Lake County.
  • Wednesday, you can expect crews joint bonding on US 200 for three miles, 15 miles west of Lincoln (mile markers 87 to 90) in Powell County. They'll also be joint bonding on US 93 S between Medicine Springs Rd and Conner (mile markers 16 to 23) in Ravalli County.
  • Today through the end of the week, crews will be cutting rumble strips on US 93 S from five miles south of Hamilton to one mile south of Lolo (mile markers 42 to 82). Crews will also be painting the roadway markings on this section as rumble strips are finished.
  • The traveling public should expect mobile operations and some slow traffic, with pilot cars and 12' width restrictions as needed.

May 11, 2021

  • Crews are cutting rumble strips on MT 135 between St. Regis and Donlan Flats, in Mineral County today.
  • Later this week, crews will be on US 200 between Trout Creek & Perma in Sanders County. Expect short delays and 12 ft width restrictions.
  • Rumble strip operations are complete on US 200 near Clearwater Junction (between Ovando and Lincoln) and on MT 83 north toward Seeley Lake. Crews will begin fog sealing the new rumble strips today.
  • Crews will continue striping shoulder lines on US 93 S between the Idaho border and just past Victor this week.
  • Crews will begin fog sealing the new rumble strips starting at the end of this week on US 93 S.

May 10, 2021

  • Rumble strip operations continue this week on US 200 near Clearwater Junction, and on MT 83 north toward the Swan Valley.
  • Crews will be striping shoulder lines on US 93 N between milepost 33 and 46 at the beginning of this week. Crews will also be striping shoulder lines on US 93 S from milepost 62 to 0 this week.
  • Crews will begin fog sealing the new rumble strips starting at the end of this week on US 93 S.

May 3, 2021

  • Crews will also begin installing rumble strips on S 269, Eastside Highway, in Ravalli County this week. Rumble strip installation is a dynamic, efficient process, and crews will be moving at about 1 mile per hour. Pilot cars will direct traffic around the machinery during working hours. Expect 12-foot width restrictions until operations are complete.

April 26, 2021

  • This week, crews are working on centerline repair in Sanders County, between mile marker 32 and 53 on US 200. Crews will mill and then pave in 5-mile sections, starting from 32-37, 37-42, and so on. 24-hour pilot cars will be directing traffic until the entire process is complete. Expect 12-foot width restrictions until operations are complete.
  • Repairing the centerline will allow for a successful and long-lasting installation of centerline rumble strips and reduce the potential for cracking and potholing.
  • Crews will also begin installing rumble strips on US 93 this week, starting at mile marker 87 and moving south. Rumble strip installation is a dynamic, efficient process, and crews will be moving at about 1 mile per hour. Pilot cars will direct traffic around the machinery during working hours. Expect 12-foot width restrictions until operations are complete.

April 21, 2021

  • MDT and Knife River are working on centerline repair in Sanders County, between mile marker 87 and 90 on US 200. 24-hour pilot cars will be directing traffic until the process is complete. Crews will pave today, and finish as needed tomorrow.
  • Next week, crews will transition to centerline repair in Sanders County, between mile marker 32 and 53 on US 200. Crews will mill and then pave in 5-mile sections, starting from 32-37, 37-42, and so on. 24-hour pilot cars will be directing traffic until the entire process is complete.
  • Repairing the centerline will allow for a successful and long-lasting installation of centerline rumble strips and reduce the potential for cracking and potholing.

April 19, 2021

  • MDT and Knife River are starting centerline repair operations in Lake County, between mile marker 37 and 44 on US 93. 24-hour pilot cars will be directing traffic until the process is complete. Crews milled yesterday and will pave today.
