The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner Razz Construction Inc. completed construction activities and inspection on the Thompson Falls-Urban project the week of October 9, 2023. Over the next year, MDT will continue to monitor roadway and Americans with Disability Act (ADA) improvements made along the Main Street/Montana Highway 200 (MT 200) project corridor. This week, crews will be completing temporary striping, signage installation, and project clean-up activities along Main Street/Montana Highway 200 (MT 200). Parking will be closed in sections during temporary striping operations. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades and seal and cover (chip seal) operations have been completed.

Advisories:

  • Traffic control will be in place during temporary striping operations. Work is scheduled to occur Tuesday and Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drivers should expect single-lane closures and traffic delays.

FOURTH OF JULY CONSTRUCTION: Construction will be paused from the end of day Friday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 4. Crews will resume work Wednesday, July 5.

Construction Updates:

  • ADA and approach work is complete on the north side of Main Street/Montana 200 (MT 200).
  • ADA and approach work continues on the south side of Main Street/MT 200.
  • Traffic control is in place. Please use pedestrian walkways.

Upcoming Work and Advisories:

  • As ADA and approach work continues, road resurfacing is anticipated to begin the week of July 10 and extend through the week of July 17.
  • During resurfacing, Main Street/MT 200 parking will be closed. Parking is encouraged on the side streets south of Main Street/MT 200. Some parking may be available in the north side parking areas depending on the construction work taking place.
  • Single lane closures will be in place. Expect traffic delays.

Construction continues on the Thompson Falls – Urban project. This week, Razz Construction crews anticipate completing work along the north shoulder of Main Street/Montana 200 (MT 200). Traffic control will be in place as concrete cures. American with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades to sidewalk curb ramps and approach work along the south side of Main Street continue. As concrete is poured and cures, crews are excavating and prepping other sections to expedite the project and length of impact.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is committed to maintaining business access throughout construction. The project team is working with individual businesses to find suitable solutions for business access around the construction areas.

Traffic control is in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Pedestrians are asked to use pedestrian walkways around the construction area.

The project is underway starting with ADA upgrades happening along the north shoulder of Main Street/MT 200. Specifically, 30 updated sidewalk curb ramps will enhance safety and accessibility for all users along the Main Street/MT 200 corridor.

Following completion of ADA upgrades, roadway resurfacing will take place over the summer. This work will include milling, overlay, crack seal, seal and cover (chip seal), and striping, as well as improvements to approaches, lighting, drainage, and updated signage.

Traffic control is in place throughout construction. Access to local businesses will be maintained during this time.
