Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) developed a corridor study of US Highway 191 (US 191) between the intersection with Huffine Lane/Norris Road/Jackrabbit Lane in Four Corners (MP 81.9), and the intersection with Beaver Creek Road south of Big Sky (MP 45.3). The purpose of the US Highway 191 Corridor Study was to develop a comprehensive long-range plan for managing the corridor and determine what improvements can be made to address identified needs while considering public and agency input, environmental considerations, and financial feasibility. The study identified feasible improvement options to address safety, operational, and geometrical concerns within the study area.
The study was a collaborative process with MDT, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), local jurisdictions, resource agencies, and the public to identify transportation needs and potential solutions. The study began in August 2019 and was completed in October 2020.
