Members of the public are encouraged to learn more about the project at a walk-in, open-house style public meeting on September 26, 2019 from 4:30 to 7:30 at Culbertson Town Hall, 210 Broadway Ave. Culbertson, MT. MDT and project staff will be on hand to discuss proposed improvements and answer questions.
The US 2-Culbertson project builds upon previous and ongoing roadway improvements in Roosevelt County with the goal of improving safety, pedestrian accessibility, drainage, and roadway conditions in the heart of Culbertson. The project will reconstruct approximately 1.3 miles of US 2 from Diamond Creek Crossing to existing construction east of Culbertson.
In addition to rehabilitating the road surface, the project would install curb, gutter, storm drainage and sidewalk throughout the more urban sections of the project.
Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is in the preliminary design phase for this project and intends to have it ready for construction by 2021, pending available funding and the completion of design.
To ensure local needs are thoroughly considered on this project, residences and businesses with frontage along the project and all other interested stakeholders are strongly encouraged to weigh-in early during the preliminary design process. By the time a project reaches the construction phase most designs are finalized and there is little opportunity for public input.
