An open house is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Fergus High School (1001 Casino Creek Drive, Lewistown, MT 59457). Please join us to learn about the project, view visuals of the proposed improvements, and engage with the project team.
Project Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) plans to widen and reconstruct the Ash Street Bridge over Big Spring Creek through the Walnut & Ash Improvements project. The project also includes plans to improve pedestrian connectivity and safety on the north side of Walnut and Ash Streets.
Proposed improvements:
- Reconstruct and widen the Ash Street Bridge over Big Spring Creek (including the addition of a five-foot pedestrian walkway)
- Construct a new sidewalk and curb and gutter on the north side of Walnut and Ash Streets, between Casino Creek Drive and the tennis court parking lot approach
- Make minor modifications to accommodate a roadside barrier and transition the new sidewalk and bridge to the existing roadway
This project is currently in the design phase with construction anticipated to begin in 2029, depending on completion of design and availability of funding.
