August 30, 2019

  • Crews are expecting to pave the roadway on Lake Helena Drive south of the intersection early next week depending on weather.
  • The south Lake Helena Drive section of the roundabout will remain closed until paving is complete.
  • What to expect:
    • Lake Helena Drive between York Road and Canyon Ferry Road will be closed.
    • Lake Helena Drive traffic will be rerouted using Valley Drive and Canyon Ferry Road.
    • Speed limit is reduced to 15 MPH through the roundabout.

August 26, 2019

  • Motorists expected to begin using a portion of the roundabout at York Road and Lake Helena Drive Tuesday, August 27
  • Crews are expected to begin pouring concrete and paving asphalt on the Lake Helena Drive south of the intersection starting Tuesday, August 27 depending on weather. The south Lake Helena Drive section of the roundabout will be closed.
  • What to expect:
    • Lake Helena Drive between York Road and Canyon Ferry Road will be closed.
    • Lake Helena Drive traffic will be detoured using Valley Drive and Canyon Ferry Road.
    • Speed limit through the construction area is reduced to 25 MPH.
  • Once paving of the southern section of Lake Helena Drive is complete, the temporary detour around the intersection will be removed and traffic will begin using the full roundabout.

August 16, 2019

  • Expect 15-minute delays and changing traffic patterns as paving begins on Saturday, August 17.
  • Traffic patterns are expected to change frequently over the next several weeks while crews begin asphalt and concrete paving work. Paving is anticipated to take a few weeks to complete depending on weather.
  • What to expect:
    • Motorists should expect 15-minute delays during the day.
    • One-way traffic through the construction area.
    • Flaggers will direct traffic.

July 8, 2019

  • Lake Helena Drive will be closed to through traffic Wednesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 11 between York Road and Canyon Ferry Road. Crews will be excavating on the south side of the Lake Helena Drive and York Road intersection.
  • What to expect:
    • Motorists will travel through the intersection of York Road and Lake Helena Drive.
    • The intersection will be controlled by a three-way stop.
    • Motorists will drive on gravel surfaces.
    • Speed limit will be reduced to 25 MPH.
  • Traffic is expected to return to the existing detour route by Friday, July 12.

July 1, 2019

  • The traffic pattern through the construction area is expected to change week of Monday, July 1. Crews will be excavating on the east side of the project area where the detour route ties into York Road.
  • What to expect:
    • During the day, motorists will travel through the intersection of York Road and Lake Helena Drive.
    • The intersection will be controlled by 4-way stop signs.
    • Motorists will drive on gravel surfaces.
    • Speed limit will be reduced to 25 MPH.
    • At night, motorists may travel through the existing detour route (depending on construction activities).
  • Traffic is expected to return to the existing detour route by Thursday, July 4th.

May 24, 2019

  • Detour route around the York Road Roundabout construction zone is now open.
  • The detour will reduce commute times by allowing traffic to bypass the construction zone. The detour will remain in place until construction is completed this fall.
  • What to expect:
    • Two lanes of traffic will remain open.
    • Motorists will drive on gravel surfaces.
    • Traffic will be controlled by stop signs.
    • Speed limit will be reduced to 25 MPH.

May 15, 2019

  • Crews will begin building a detour route south of the York Road and Lake Helena Drive intersection on Thursday, May 16. The detour is expected to be in place next week and will remain in place throughout construction. Once in place the detour will reduce traffic impacts to commuters until construction is completed this fall
  • What to expect while the detour is being constructed (through early next week):
    • One lane of traffic will remain open during construction, Monday - Friday. Traffic will return to two lanes at night and over the weekend.
    • Traffic will be directed through the construction zone by flaggers.
    • Motorists will drive on gravel surfaces.
    • Motorists should expect delays (approx. 10-15 minutes).
    • Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday - Friday.
