The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) submitted MPDG grant applications in August 2023 (INFRA and Rural) and in May 2024 (INFRA) for funding to reconstruct 7.3-miles of Montana Highway 41, a Non-Interstate National Highway System route. Specifically, to address the hazardous roller coaster effect, horizontal and vertical curves will be straightened and flattened, shoulders will be widened to 8-feet, perpetuate centerline rumble strips, and install new shoulder rumble strips to alert inattentive drivers. In addition, two bridges within the Project area will also be replaced as the Stone Creek timber bridge has reached the end of its service life, and the Beaverhead River bridge requires replacement to match the new roadway alignment and width.
