Project Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner, A-Core Concrete Specialists, Inc., will begin a roadway improvements project on First Street (U.S. Highway 2) in Havre in mid-May. The project will improve a 2.3-mile section of roadway from east of Ninth Avenue Northwest to 22nd Avenue North. Construction is expected to last about four months and cost about $3.5 million.
Construction work will include:
- Sealing concrete pavement joints and cracks
- Repairing and replacing damaged concrete panels
- Pulverizing the roadway surface
- Replacing decorative stamped crosswalks
- Installing updated signage and new pavement markings
This work will help keep water and sand from getting under the concrete and will extend the life of the existing roadway, which was originally built in 2007 and 2008.
MDT will coordinate closely with the contractor, local officials, and nearby businesses to manage traffic and access throughout construction. Information about traffic impacts and construction activities will be shared with the public as it becomes available.
BNSF railroad tracks are shown as a black dotted line running generally east to west and parallel to First Street (U.S. Highway 2), north of the roadway. The Milk River is shown in blue and runs east to west north of the railroad tracks. Secondary Highway 232 is shown as a white line and is located northwest of the project area.
