Construction Update

Preliminary site preparation, including dirt work and staging (arranging and organizing materials, equipment, and resources needed for the project), has begun. Construction on the embankment is anticipated to begin after the preparation work is complete. Minimal traffic disruption is anticipated during the initial site work since most of this work is off the roadway.

Initial site work and preparation efforts are progressing.

Fergus Electric crews have completed drilling (boring) under the southwest side of the roadway to install underground utilities.

Minimal traffic disruption is anticipated at this time. Please watch for workers and equipment when traveling through the project area. All work is dependent on weather conditions and other unforeseen factors.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner M.A. DeAtley Construction, Inc., are continuing work on the US 191 – Mobridge Slide Repairs project. Currently, site preparation efforts are progressing and include:

  • Clearing vegetation
  • Hauling and sorting rock fill
  • Mobilizing equipment and creating stockpiles
  • Installing tools and instrumentation to monitor the landslide movement during construction

Initial site work will continue for the next couple of weeks.

Burning as well as clearing the trees and brush in the project area is complete.

February 5, 2025

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner M.A. DeAtley Construction, Inc., has begun initial site preparation, including dirt work and staging. This work is expected to continue until April.

Minimal traffic disruption is anticipated until April and much of the work will be off-site and not seen from the road.

While traveling through the project site, please be mindful of the speed limit as well as the large trucks and other equipment in the area.

Following site preparation in April, full construction activities are anticipated to begin and continue through the 2025 construction season.
