The 2005 Rockfall Hazard Classification and Mitigation System research project resulted in the development of a Rockfall Hazard Rating System (RHRS). The MDT developed the RHRS for use on the Department’s state-maintained roadways. A secondary research project, the Rockfall Hazard Process Assessment, concluded October 2017. This research gave rise to a planning tool for future rockfall mitigation projects.
