Standard Specials are not meant to be added to every project. Standard Specials are reviewed and approved by Federal Highways as way to ensure all Federal requirements and processes are met. The language within the special is uniform and consistent and does not change when applied to a contract, with the only exception of (M – Modified) specials whereas a single entry, name, or number needs to be added.
Please review and understand the intent of each special and consult with the appropriate Bureau and/or DCE/DCEO prior to adding specials to a contract.
