There are many options on the market for road bed stabilization including cement treated base, geo-fabrics, geogrid, and others. Montana has varying soils and aggregates across the state that provide the opportunity to test a lot of these options to find which work best in certain senarios. This experimental feature is a biaxial geogrid produced by TENAX called LBO 220. It is a polypropylene material designed for soil stabilization and reinforcement. MDT has tested other options throughout the state through the experimental features program and this is another step in learning which efforts result in cost saving solutions.
